French Régence Biblioteque, Early 18th Century

About the Item

A rare French Régence period biblioteque, circa 1740, with arched wire-inset doors over two lower square paneled doors with adjustable interior shelves, “galbe” paneled side doors concealing additional shelves, the piece is beautifully carved with stylized shell and floral motifs, and retains its original grey painted finish and original hardware with locks and keys. A unique and rare find.

    Repaired: Older repairs to the top, and minor touch-up throughout. The back panel has been altered so it can be removed for transport,. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Assembly will be required upon delivery. Some signs of older worm damage particularly in the top panel. Blocks have been added to facilitate assembly. Original painted finish.
