About the Item

Beautiful antique walnut book mill of exceptionally fine quality from the renowned 19th-century English furniture maker Maple & Co. with its distinctive cast iron base. A lovely, weathered appearance. Origin: England, circa 1900 Dimensions: 49cm x 49cm x H.86cm Maple & Co. was the world's leading manufacturer of quality furniture towards the end of the Victorian period (circa 1880). The company furnished Tsar Nicholas's Winter Palace, the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, all the major English embassies worldwide, countless country houses, and grand hotels. Everyone of significance at the end of the 19th century had their furniture made by Maple & Co. The quality and craftsmanship of these pieces are exceptionally beautiful.
