About the Item

Louis XVI buffet hand-made in Southern France in the mid 1800s using walnut. The buffet shows a three on two composition with three drawers on top of two doors. The drawers are inset and the fronts are composed of a flat panel framed in darker molding. The doors are also composed of flat panels framed by three layers of molding, creating beautiful depth in the, otherwise, very linear piece. The door panels also show a simple curvy line carving. Internally the buffet is divided in two area by a single shelf, providing plenty of storage space. Overall this is a very cute and usable piece of furniture. Despite the simple overall lines, the buffet has a lot of depth, given by the hand-carving on the door panels, the fluting on the front corners and the presence of ebonized molding on the drawers and doors. The buffet is capacious and can provide storage for items used on a daily basis, but because of its decorations and overall look it can also just be used as a decorative piece where to hide all those items that do not have an official placement in the house (I doubt I am the only one with that problem!)

18th Century Louis XV Bleached Oak Buffet/Enfilade
Located in Carmine, TX
This is a beautiful, well-built and large period buffet that has style, and elegance. This gorgeous piece was built in the mid 1700s using all pegged construction and solid oak. The buffet features 3 drawers over three doors, all decorated with beautiful carving and raised panels throughout. The drawers show beautiful hand-made dovetailed joints and the back itself is a work of art. The buffet is still sitting on its original carved feet and shows a scalloped and carved apron, and is finished with simple, original hardware. This piece was hand-selected because of its beautiful proportions, carvings and overall color. The bleaching process shows much of the natural grain of the wood but it also highlights the human-made carvings, creating a beautiful combination of natural and human designs...

18th Century Bleached Walnut Italian Credenza, Buffet, Sideboard
Located in Carmine, TX
Walnut credenza handcrafted in Italy in the mid 1700s and bleached recently. Don't let its delicate overall appearance fool you because, as my lower back can attest, this baby is heavy. This is a beautiful credenza that follow the typical italian style with slanted sides, which create small triangular storage spaces on either sides of the two main front doors and drawer. Overall the credenza is very straight in lines. The drawers have flat overlay fronts, and the doors show chamfered panels with a raised carving and are framed by flat molding. The carving and molding help giving the piece some depth and decoration. The bleaching process also provided the credenza with additional warmth, depth and decoration, by bringing out the beautiful grain and underlying colors of the wood. The top of the credenza is composed of boards with ogee edge nailed to the main case. On the inside the credenza is very spacious, providing plenty of storage space. Overall this is a beautiful piece that has lived a long life, and has received some help in "hanging in there" over the years. This is a piece that will fit well with both modern and...
