Ikat cabinet by Lynnea Jean
Creativity expands through exploration and iteration. The Ikat Cabinet first began as a photograph. From there, Lynnea was inspired to paint the photograph, design it into a rug, and then play around with a motif as wood marquetry. The pattern that developed is a modernized take on Ikat, which was introduced into European textile vocabulary in the early 1900s when Dutch scholars began to study the rich textile traditions of present-day Indonesia.
Exploring texture within shape, this cabinet is finished in a dreamy chocolate hue and is the perfect addition to a spacious entry or a dining room. It’s a living demonstration of the creative process: following a thread and continuing to explore it in a variety of mediums.
