About the Item
Shanty cabinet designed by Doshi Levien in 2014 manufactured in Barcelona by BD.
Shanty is inspired in the patchwork of corrugated steel sheets which are used to construct many temporary or provisional homes, which exist in the whole world. Its beauty lies in imperfection. This spontaneous composition of superimposed surfaces in different colors is recreated with a wavy front. Its body has an asymmetrical volume and each door opens differently.
Materials:
Containers: MDF in a matte lacquered finish.
Doors: MDF with mechanized wave-form fronts, and matte lacquered finish.
Glass Top 8mm
Legs: Gold extruded aluminum
Structure: Tubular iron

Doshi Levien is a London based design office, established in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. Doshi Levien's work celebrates the hybrid and explores the coming together of cultures, technology, story telling, Industrial Design and Fine craftsmanship.
