About the Item

Unique art deco cabinet by Danish cabinetmaker Lauritz Møller Klausen, the cabinet was made as Lauritz Møller Klausen’s graduation piece from the carpentry training in Copenhagen in the 1930’s. The cabinet is made of mahogany with inlays of a lighter type of wood in a very classic Asian inspired style of intarsia decoration on the drawers and a more naturalistic and more empire style of decoration on the doors. Lauritz Møller Klausen was trained at Lysberg Hansen & Therp at there well established and reputable carpentry workshop and worked there for many years until he opened his own workshop on Østerbro in Copenhagen. The style of the cabinet shows that he definitely looked to Sweden for inspiration from the Swedish Grace movement.
