About the Item
An extraordinary antique English George IV library cabinet circa 1820. Features a long, rectangular breche marble top in beautiful white, orange, and violet, surmounting a stately body of four cabinet doors with gilt brass grills detailed by quatrefoil flowers over mauve-gray curtains opening to shelved interiors, divided by molded outset pilasters.
Provenance: The Dukes of Northumberland, Alnwick Castle, before the remodeling by Monteroli and Salvin in the 1850's for the 4th Duke of Umberland. Humphrey-Carrasco, London, October 2000. Alnwick Castle was used as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films.
Dimensions: 96" L, 18" D, 35" H
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various acceptable signs of age include edge chips to the stone and minor nicks and wear to the wood mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is particularly fine.
