French 19th century Louis XIV st. Mahogany, Kingwood, Palisander, Brass, cabinet

About the Item

A stunning and very high quality French 19th century Louis XIV st. Mahogany, Kingwood, Palisander, Brass, Ormolu, and Campan Rubané marble cabinet. This exquisite two door two shelf cabinet is raised on a short arbalest shaped base consisting of Kingwood inlays with Mahogany veneers. The two front doors are tastefully decorated by pierced Ormolu keyhole escutcheons having a male bust, crossed torches inside a lyre, and a crown atop. The corners of each door have Ormolu rosettes as well as fine Brass inlaid bands surrounding the outer edge. Inside the four rosettes on each door is a Coeur-de-Rai designed Ormolu band which flanks the Mahogany and Palisander panel within. The panel is beautifully decorated with Brass inlays on the outer edge and a wide pierced scrolling Ormolu display pedestal with additional bearded male busts that present a foliate decorated urn above which has ram's heads located on each handle. Hovering above the foliate accented urn is a floral crown hanging from an Ormolu rosette with ribbons flowing on either side. The two side panels are decorated similarly to the two front doors, with the escutcheons as central reserves. The attractive Campan Rubané marble top has mottled edges and adds a fantastic color combination that pairs with the wood in a beautiful way.
