French Art Deco Canteen of Silver Plate Cutlery A French Art Deco canteen of 95 pieces of cutlery, produced in France in the 1920’s, having three lockable drawers, standing on a double u uprights and stylish base the ball shaped pulls are nickel plated whilst the key is silver plated, the lower lock locks all three drawers when closed. Inside the canteen it has flatware for 12 people to dine, consisting of 12 knives, 12 starter knives 12 forks, 12 starter forks, 12 spoons, 12 smaller spoons and 12 tea spoons, in the lower drawer there is a large ladle serving spoon, carving knife and meat fork salad servers and ham bone clamp these are all matching to the set, additionally there are salad servers, sugar sifter and sugar tongs The set is silver plate by Dauphin, each stamped with hallmark of the weight of silver used to plate 24 of these items, for example the larger fork has 90 stamped to it so 90grams of silver used to plate 24 forks so very heavy silver content in this set The cabinet has been fully restored and professionally polished by hand and Is in excellent condition throughout Age: 1925 Style: French Art Deco Origin : France Material: Walnut, silver plate Condition: Excellent Restoration: Fully polished cabinet Dimensions: 84h x 64w x 40d cm

An exceptional, fine and impressive, comprehensive antique English sterling silver Sandringham pattern flatware service for twelve persons - boxed; an addition to our flatware collection The pieces of this magnificent and comprehensive antique George V English sterling silver flatware service for twelve persons are crafted in the Sandringham pattern. Each spoon and fork is embellished with a paralleling border to the handle, in addition to a pointed terminal. The original table and dessert knives, in addition to the carving set are fitted with composite handles, and the fish service and fruit service all retain the original plain rounded mother of pearl handles; each with plain ferrules. The fundamental pieces of the basic service were crafted by the Sheffield silversmith Emile Viner of Viner's Ltd between 1934-1939; these pieces will have been crafted in fewer years but due to the hallmarking system the components bear the date letters 'r', 's', 't', 'u', 'v' and 'w'. This service will have been retailed as a complete set and between the dates stated. The stainless steel blades of the original composite handled table and dessert knives bear the mark 'By Appointment to the Late King George V, Viners Ltd, Sheffield' accented with 'Stainless Deluxe'. This impressive canteen of cutlery is fitted to the original, fine and impressive oak three draw canteen table; this is an impressive piece of furniture in its own right. The table is fitted with a pair of Art Deco style gilt metal handles to each drawer, in addition to plain escutcheons. This exceptional cutlery table is supported by four plain legs with tapering knopped feet. Condition The Sandringham pattern cutlery service within this antique cutlery canteen table is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The service has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The table box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker. The velvet interior of each draw has some wear in keeping with age, but can be considered to be in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
