French Art Deco Mahogany and Shagreen Cabinet, Attrib. to Andre Frechet

About the Item

Modernist dramatic bow front credenza attributed to Andre Frechet, with a horizontal frieze of diamond and rectangular shapes inlaid in shagreen. Thin nickel plated bronze framing delineates the rectangular sharkskin decorative detail on the central doors. The diamond shaped decoration on the serpentine shaped twin side doors have a matching sleek metallic molded accent The sideboard sits on a footed cube pediment base. The ribbon stripe mahogany is refinished in a medium/ dark brown walnut stain which was lacquered several years ago and kept in very good condition. There are some small dark spots of old restoration on the top under the gloss lacquered finish. High gloss finish. Top surface has a cloudy /bluish tint to the lacquer seen only when in direct sunlight. Depth measurements: ranges in depth from 17 " to 20 3/4" maximum at the belly. Can also be used as a sideboard, credenza, enfilade, console, dresser, bar with Mid-Century Modern, French Modern, Asian, Contemporary, Minimalist, Italian design... and Modern room settings. Ebony and ivory, black and white, coffee color, Macassar ebony.
