About the Item

These imposing solid mahogany cabinets with gilt bronze mounts in the style of the Louis XVI French Empire furnished the luxurious Intercontinental Paris Le Grand Hotel. It has recently been renovate, the Second Empire style has been maintained but the interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon added allouring touches to this sumptuous décor. These furniture can now decorate your home as a wardrobe, dry bar or one of a kind TV cabinet. This 20th century pair of cabinets combines the elegant and architectural imperial aesthetics with modern needs, the whole with solid structure, excellent workmanship and attention to decorative details. The front structure has two upper and two lower doors with mahogany frames, a central x-shaped decoration and knob handles in golden metal. Architectural columns lead up each side flanking the doors and are decorated with ormolu capitals and socles. The doors open to reveal two large storage spaces, the lower part also with a small storage compartment and glass shelves. The upper shelf – originally used as a dry bar and to house the safe deposit box - features an extremely comfortable and clever doors retractable opening system making it the ideal piece of furniture to hide the TV! The lower compartment was used as a luggage rack, this means pleanty of storage space and it's equipped with a drawer and glass shelves above. The gilt metal decoravive friezes are spectacular, featuring empire period's patterns such as swans, vases, lyres and silhouettes dressed as in ancient Rome. The cabinets rest on ball feet on the front and tapered square feet behind. Beautiful warm Mahogany wood grain and gilt details, perfect structural condition, very good condition with minor wear due to age and use. Mesures: H. 170, W. 110, D. 63 cm.
