A stunning masterpiece of high Victorian furniture, this burl, gloss ebonized, and gilt three-tier cabinet/dry bar/etagere was made in the USA circa 1870s. This exquisite piece reflects the design influences of the renowned Herter Brothers, highlighting the masterful craftsmanship and ornate detailing of this extraordinary cabinet of the Victorian era.
The cabinet features tailored carving, gilding, engraving, inlaid burl, ebonizing, and intricate brass work throughout. Its architectural form includes numerous and various-sized shelves, two drawers, and a central cabinet, offering both aesthetic appeal and functional storage.
The top shelf, measuring 45 inches high, 33 inches wide, and 16 inches deep, is adorned with a 7-inch-high triangular column gallery made of exotic burl and ebonized engraved decoration. The second shelf, identical in width and depth, stands at 22 inches high with an interior height of 14 inches and includes two concealed drawers, each measuring 14 inches wide and 3 inches high.
The bottom tier showcases a 16-inch square surface with ebonized burl and gilt flowerhead decoration, flanked by two shelves each measuring 6 inches wide, 18 inches high, and 15.5 inches deep. This piece is raised on castors, ensuring easy mobility and versatility in its placement.
