About the Item

A spectacular Italian 17th century burl walnut, gilt iron and giltwood eighteen drawer, three door Baroque cabinet. The impressive cabinet is raised by bun feet below the bottom tier with fine mottled border and a most decorative back panel with a carved recessed giltwood band. The impressive two front supports display handsome and richly carved giltwood lions seated on a burl walnut base with a fine giltwood band. When the pair of doors above is closed two elegant lower drawers are visible. The doors and drawers are decorated with striking and finely carved giltwood bands framing the recessed burl walnut panels showcasing the beautiful wood grain. Each door displays superb pierced gilt iron foliate keyhole escutcheons and are flanked by wonderful tapered architectural columns with block reserves and scrolled giltwood capitals. Each side displays wonderful hand beaten wrought iron handles centered on a burl walnut background and framed within elegant giltwood bands. The doors open to reveal stunning hand beaten wrought iron hinges with fine scrolled foliate designs and the finished inside of the doors decorated in the same fashion as the exterior. Inside are eleven drawers and one central door, each with elegant giltwood bands and gilt metal pulls. The central door displays a pierced gilt metal keyhole escutcheon and opens to reveal five interior drawers with similar stunning hinges and hardware.
