About the Item

The Samara storage unit was designed by Dutch-born Derk Jan de Vries, who relocated to Italy in the 1960s. There, he collaborated with the small Milanese manufacturer Maisa di Seveso, a company active in the latter half of the 20th century. Unlike mass-produced furniture, pieces by de Vries were made in limited quantities and distributed through a select network, making them rare finds today. This modular system, finished in black ash, consists of stackable cabinets, all sharing identical dimensions. Their versatility allows for numerous configurations, offering a playful and creative presence: We’re especially drawn to the simplicity of the design; the clean lines, geometric volumes, and the subtle elegance of how the corners intersect reveal a thoughtful and precise approach to form. Materials: Solid Ash, glass Origination: Italy, 1980s Condition: Good, some signs of use in form of scratches on the top. A hole for cables in one of the cabinets.
