About the Item

This antique cabinet with glass sliding doors was crafted in the Taisho Era (1912–1926). Built in Japanese cherry and cedar with persimmon-wood drawer fronts, and finished in traditional Japanese urushi lacquer. Gentle, timeworn areas of lacquer wear create a rich wabi-sabi patina. Behind the glass are staggered shelves (chigaidana), a subtly curved display shelf, a kendon-door compartment (lift-in panel doors), and a tiny drawer—an uncommon layout that invites both display and storage. Below sit five additional drawers for everyday organization. The glass helps keep dust at bay, while the kendon compartment neatly conceals items you prefer out of sight. Sized for living rooms, dining rooms, and hallways—excellent as a tea cabinet, a compact home bar, or a display for ceramics and books. The overall presence is calm and composed. The piece has been carefully washed with water. The doors and drawers move smoothly. As an antique piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent antique condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its character. Weight: 67.5lbs ( 30.6kg) Shipping Information We ship from Japan.
