Large 19th Century Wooden Wedding Cabinet with Butterfly Hardware

About the Item

A large wedding cabinet from the 19th century, with two pairs of double doors and large butterfly hardware. This armoire cabinet features two pairs of double doors, each fitted with a cut-out butterfly hardware with etched motifs and fish pulls. These doors open to reveal a convenient space concealing hidden drawers in the upper section and a sliding panel in the lower part, making it the perfect armoire or versatile entertainment center. Resting on four straight legs with carved aprons on three sides, this large storage cabinet will bring an elegant and warm presence to any bedroom or living room with it's cozy brown tones & refined butterfly hardware.

Created in China during the Qing dynasty, this compound cabinet features a smaller chest stacked on top of a regular sized cabinet. Compound cabinets were used for storage. The top would contain out of season clothing while the main cabinet would be used as a wardrobe for everyday use including bedding and clothes for the season. The cabinet showcases a natural finish perfectly complimenting its linear silhouette. The main section's doors open thanks to a traditional brass medallion with teardrop pulls and petite key, to reveal inner shelves and hidden drawers offering great storage opportunities, while the ensemble is raised on straight feet connected to one another through an apron on three sides.
