About the Item

A Japanese Taisho period zebra wood miniature tansu chest from the early 20th century, with sliding doors, open shelf and drawers. Created in Japan during the Taisho period in the early years of the 20th century, this diminutive tansu chest features a rectangular top sitting above a perfectly organized façade. An open shelf populates the top while two sliding doors with gilded accents occupy the center left. Two small drawers, followed by three larger ones concluding with a large single one at the bottom, complete the ensemble. Made of zebra wood, the tansu is plain on all the other sides. With its clean lines, exquisite wood grain and petite dimensions, this Japanese Taisho period miniature tansu chest from the early 20th century will make for a charming and exotic addition to any home, perhaps used as a jewelry box or a desktop organizer.
