Since 1992 Thomas Throop/ Black Creek Designs llc has specialized in designing and building one of a kind furniture. Satisfying clients with unique and inspired designs made to the highest level of craftsmanship with the finest woods available. In addition to having pieces purchased for significant public and private collections, Throop has won numerous awards for his furniture. He has exhibited widely in galleries and in over 100 juried exhibitions in the US and England, contributed to several books and has been featured in many prominent magazines. The exploration of contrast and balance has been a constant in my work for over 30 years. My desire to create both subtle detailing and bold statements adds to the richness of the designs. Classical training in England gave me the appreciation for the importance of craftsmanship and transcendent beauty of wood in all its variation. More importantly it has given me a basis to engage in the process of designing and making furniture that has an interplay of form and function from the simple to the complex.
