About the Item

A southwestern French Louis XV period painted buffet à deux-corps from the mid-18th century with chicken wire and pantalonnière. Born in the southwestern region of France that includes Bordeaux, the lovely Dordogne and the northern Basque area, this elegant buffet à deux-corps (meaning two-part body) features a molded cornice overhanging the upper section of the cabinet. Two tall doors with chicken wire open to reveal four inner shelves offering great options to display various decorative objects. The lower section of the cabinet, the commode called a pantalonnière and made of long drawers perfect to store pants (pantalons), is adorned with a delicately carved skirt and raised on four feet, scrolled in the front and straight in the back. The entire piece is painted in a soft grey color whose subtle hue compliments the Louis XV Silhouette perfectly. With its graceful presence and lovely patina, this French buffet à deux-corps circa 1760 will bring a touch of elegance to any home, whether placed in a living room, kitchen, dining room or bedroom.
