About the Item

Antique White and Grey Painted Cupboard Dimension: H. 191 cm - W. 127 cm (137 cm to the corners) - D. 46 cm (53 cm to the corners) Wood essence: Fir Period: c. 1810 Origin: Austria - European Alps Description: Antique Alpine wardrobe in fir wood, featuring a solid wood structure and ivory-colored paint with gray details, with a nice patina. Its rounded shape on the sides makes it visually harmonious, while the molded base and spherical feet contribute to giving it stability and lightness. The most distinctive element is the shaped cymatium, embellished with a central rosette carving and scroll motifs, a typical detail of Alpine production in the 18th-19th centuries. The doors feature raised panels framed by sinuous moldings, emphasized by a contrasting paint in pale gray, which highlights the geometry and depth of the workmanship. The paint is oxidized and deteriorated in the areas of greatest wear, but in good general condition. Inside there are two other small doors, built at a later time. Shelves can be set up inside them. (the two small doors can be removed). Beautiful wrought iron bushings, original, working but not original lock. Condition: The wardrobe has not yet been restored, but is in good condition. It will be delivered fully restored and customized according to the buyer's needs. Specifically, the restoration process includes: Structural repairs to ensure durability Thorough woodworm treatment to eliminate infestations Interior cleaning and sanitation External finishing with natural beeswax Internal finishing with shellac (a natural alcohol-based varnish) Upon request, we can customize the level of restoration and tailor the interior fittings (hanging rods, shelves, etc.) to your preferences.
