About the Item
From Hokuriku area, Japan.
This tansu chest of drawers seemed to be in the vein of Kusuri dansu (Medicine / apothecary chest).
Product of Meiji era (1860s-1910), estimate from the style & conditions.
Hokuriku area is, and always has been known to the high quality traditional crafts, We can see a piece of their traditions even in the daily-use furnitures.
Finished with the layers of traditional black Urushi lacquer, persimmon tannin (kakishibu) & burnt pine ink. in a certain wabi sabi touch.
Made of thick, quality Sugi cedar, It's still durable enough for actual use.
Each drawers open & close smoothly. Antique original iron ring pulls attached.

4 drawers on the upper each sides : w 185mm / d 230mm / h 112mm
6 drawers on the upper middle : w 185mm / d 230mm / h 68mm
6 drawers on the lower side : w 405mm / d 230mm / h 80mm
