1940s Japanese vintage wooden tansu chest of drawers, wabi sabi organic Japandi
About the Item
Japanese Vintage Isho Tansu, clothes chest of drawers - fully made of quality Sugi cedar with unique, marble-like grains.
Manufactured in circa 1940s, estimate from the style, technique - close to modern, but less metal fasteners used than the pieces of later era - and conditions.
The drawer panels are made from single solid wood panel, so the grains are connected.
There're the holes in each drawer panels, which are the remains of key holes.
This piece is one of the "Ashed" line furnitures of my shop items - washed off the remained old vanish by the lye made from the hardwood ashes, then re-finished with homemade, water-based sheer matte polish mist made of beeswax & linseed oil. Not shiny, but touches are smooth.
