19th Century Mahogany Chest Of Drawers With Marquetry Works, France circa 1870

About the Item

Elaborately crafted French marquetry chest of drawers from the period around 1870. An absolutely beauty of a late 19th century transitional commode, completely new restored, impressing with its fantastic looking marquetry work. The exceptional "grid" design which can be seen on both sides as well as on the front was made with fine maple wood and is highlighted by small cherry dots. Providing three drawers, whereby the upper drawer is a little narrower and framed by nutwood, this extraordinary transitional chest of drawers offers lot of storage space. The one of a kind beige/ yellow marble plate with pink/brown veins on top, lovely brass applications on the feet and drawers and the gorgeous designed pilasters confer this transitional style commode a real noble appearance. The surface has been sealed with a traditional hand polished shellac finish. PLEASE NOTE: we do also have the matching pair of side tables/ pillar commodes - Ref. ID: LU1553231029912.
