About the Item
Pair of walnut-paneled Empire chests of drawers, Lucca first quarter 19th century. Contoured Green Alps marble tops, ebonized under-top band, three drawers on the front, hermetic uprights with gilt bronze face and foot caryatids. Coffered feet embellished with leaf elements in carved and gilded pastille and resting on ebonized plinths. The two perimeter gilded frames, one leafy and the other baccellated, are also made of pastille. Gilt bronze lion face handles. Gilding partially retaken. Poplar interior.
