About the Item

The black painted finish is striking in this attractive large chest of four drawers resting on scalloped skirt (mirroring top edge) and heavy cabriole feet. While the paint is newer and professionally applied, it compliments the age, rococo style, lines and serpentine curves of this chest that dates to the early 1800's. The layered black painted finish has been distressed, creating aged character while revealing the natural wood below. Each drawer had two brass pulls making them easy to open and use. The drawer bottoms each show age related separation/cracks which is typical in drawers over 200 years old. No keys. This strong and elegant oak dresser has been restored and is ready for use. Drawer bottoms and sides were constructed in pine, typical of the craftsmanship of this era. All scratches, cracks (top and sides), dings, and age related separation (drawer bottoms and back) are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this large chest of four drawers. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed.
