Genovese 19th century Louis XV st. Rosewood, Marble and Ormolu commode

About the Item

A stunning Genovese 19th century Louis XV st. Rosewood, Marble and Ormolu commode. This most impressive Italian commode is raised by slender cabriole legs with elegant Ormolu foliate sabots. Above the lovely scalloped shaped apron are three beautiful Bombée shaped drawers. Each drawer displays two striking quarter veneered designs where the handles are placed, flanking a central square quarter veneered inlaid design with the Ormolu key hole escutcheon. The sides of the chests display quarter veneered panels with a central circular quarter veneered reserve. Between each drawer and at the top is a fluted Brass fitted band all below the green and white veined original marble top which follow the shape of the commode with a mottled border.
