About the Item

Baroque chest of drawers with central lock Southwest German Walnut Baroque circa 1760 Dimensions: H x W x D: 86 x 104 x 64 cm Description: Three-drawer chest of drawers standing on pincer feet with a strongly curved front. The drawers have frames made of plain walnut and two veneered panels each in burl wood, which are structured by cartouche-like inlaid maple threads. The arrangement of this subtle inlay work and the striking crossbars, which significantly shape the appearance of the piece of furniture, are also known from furniture from the Württemberg-Hohenlohe region, which is why it is reasonable to assume that it originates from this region. The fittings feature period-typical bow handles not only on the drawers, but also as carrying aids on the sides. The three engraved key plates create a uniform appearance, but only the middle one is actually necessary, as this drawer is fitted with a large iron lock that bolts up and down, allowing all three drawers to be locked with a single key. The top panel and the paneling on it follow the curved shape of the furniture front. Condition: Refurbished and suitable for everyday use. The drawers run smoothly and the central lock works perfectly. Please compare the following specialist literature: Württembergisches Landesmuseum - Barockmöbel aus Württemberg und Hohenlohe 1700-1750
