Pair of Neoclassical Swedish Gustavian Style Cerused Commodes
About the Item
Divine pair of cerused commodes or chests of drawers made in the Swedish Gustavian taste. The large chests feature pilaster column reeded corners. The three drawer cases are centered by a large reeded column motif with a conforming top in the neoclassical Greco-Roman style. The chests have an intentionally aged, distressed painted cerused or glazed finish in dove grey. The chests are supported by tapered legs that are set at an angle in the front. The large drawers have patinated bronze ring pulls centered by rosettes. Handsome profile and large scale with a lovely, aged weathered patina. Sold as a pair.
