French Black Lacquer and Gilt Chest on Stand with Leather Drawers



Beautifully made black lacquer and parcel-gilt cartonnier, or chest on stand, with tooled leather drawer fronts and gilt bronze mounts. In the French Regence style. A single drawer on top with six below. The chest lifts off of the base making it easy to move. This would be a distinct addition to any bedroom, bathroom, foyer or study. The black lacquer base stamped Frederick P. Victoria, renowned antiques dealer, decorator, and high quality furniture maker in New York for more than 50 years, until his death in 1980.
