About the Item

A fine example of Brazilian colonial revival craftsmanship, this two-part cupboard from the early 20th century evokes the solid dignity and balanced proportions of 18th-century furniture from the rural manors of Minas or Bahia. Built around 1930–1940, it is executed in a beautifully grained light native hardwood, with a warm, luminous patina that speaks of both age and care. The piece features four framed and recessed panel doors — two upper, two lower — with a generous crown molding and gently scalloped feet. Each door with ornate brass pulls in a stylized acanthus and arrow motif, adding a discreet touch of baroque flourish. The structure is sober yet elegant, celebrating the Brazilian colonial tradition of austerity paired with richness in material. Inside, wide shelves provide excellent storage, making this piece ideal for dining rooms, living spaces, or even refined kitchens. Its visual lightness and harmonious design allow it to blend effortlessly into both rustic and contemporary interiors. An authentic piece of Brazil’s decorative heritage, embodying grace, function, and timeless character.
