About the Item
This simple, yet beautiful country pine cupboard features a rustic design of two solid doors on the bottom and two framed wavy glass doors on the top, which is set back allowing for a narrow counter area.
Beautiful American pine comprises this rustic Pennsylvania Dutch country cupboard/hutch. Rose head nails are found throughout its construction, illustrating the period from which it originated. The upper doors have wavy glass panes and a small iron closure with ornate detail. Each of the two fixed shelves have a small plate rail that allows for displaying of dish ware. The upper section is set back allowing for a counter space. The lower doors are panel doors. The left having a rustic hidden French-style latch. The right door having a more traditional exterior latch, used to keep both doors closed. As found with antique pine, this cupboard has a warm patinated finish and figured knots overall. This is a single piece cupboard.
This would be a perfect addition to a country kitchen or great room! It would mix beautifully with eclectic pieces and a vast color palette.

Ever wonder how large, tall pieces of furniture were moved in and out of the small doorways in 18th-19th century homes?
Beginning about 1740, corner cupboards were very popular storage pieces. Some were built into the room by carpenters so they never had to be moved.

Most old corner cupboards were made by a cabinetmaker to be moved from house to house.
The top section usually had glass cabinet doors covering several shelves. The silver or dishes inside were arranged to be admired. The bottom section had two wooden cabinet doors...
