About the Item

A rare and unusual small 18th century mahogany tallboy consisting of a chest of drawers above a two door linen press/cupboard. The top with dentil cornice above an arrangement of two short and three long graduated drawers flanked by quartered fluted pillars to the canted corners headed by ormolu capital and ormolu socles below, and raised on carved brick-work pedestals. The lower half with two panelled doors enclosing the original sliding trays and raised on shaped bracket feet. A rare and very high quality item of most attractive small proportions, in fine original condition including all fire-gilded handles and fittings. Constructed in fine close-grained Cuban mahogany of good rich colour. It provides immensely practical storage in any room and of such high quality, it is smart enough for a formal and elegant reception room.
