19th Century Walnut Partners Desk

About the Item

This is a walnut and Kashmir walnut partners desk made in England, circa 1890. The top of the desk is Walnut with 3 shaped pieces of beautiful brown leather with gold embossed tooling. The entirety of the desk below the top surface is done in a magnificent Kashmir Walnut. Kashmir Walnut is the finest cut of Burr Walnut as is visually stunning. There are 4 drawers on the right and left sides of the main working side of the desk with a long drawer to the center of the desk. All of the drawers are serpentine in shape. The other side of the desk has a drawer over a cupboard door on the right and left sides with a long central drawer between. All of these are also serpentine in shape. The cupboard doors open to reveal open storage with one shelf. All of the drawers are hand dovetailed with solid Oak sides, backs and bottoms. The 4 corners of the desk are chamfered. All of the drawer fronts, cupboard door fronts and both the right and left sides of the desk are done in Kashmir Walnut. All of the drawer fronts and the cupboard door fronts have a Walnut Banding. Both the right and left sides have a rectangular Herringbone Walnut Inlay inside of a larger shaped Herringbone Walnut Banding. The Solid Brass handles are of the finest quality. The desk has it's original set of keys. There is a cross cut molding around the top and the base. The desk sits on a Plinth Base. The finish and physical condition is fabulous. The desk measures 72 in. long x 42 in. deep x 32 in. tall.
