Mid century danish modern teak desk with 3 drawers

About the Item

A crafty design, the top of the desk is mounted such that it can slide forward and give the user access to a wine storage compartment, a compartment with an ebony veneered divider and a last compartment flanked by brass rods for holding sensitive files. The desk is a gorgeous presentation, the clean and undistracted lines exhibiting excellence in both design and materials. We have priced the desk in light of the top having some wear, which certainly does not need to be refinished and could be very much enjoyed exactly as it is - the edge is finished in an applied rosewood molding. Three drawers on either side have carved rosewood handles that inset into the face of the drawer, presumably a teak hardwood, which is dovetailed to the secondary woods of the frame - the drawers move with a perfect smoothness. The effectiveness of the rosewood veneers is most vibrant in the back of the desk, which is intended to be displayed and fully visible. An absolutely gorgeous piece that was crafted to last the test of time, this will certainly be a cherished piece in a well decorated study. Measurements: 59” W x 29 3/8” D x 29 1/8” H Condition Report: Finish worn throughout the top with some scratching and discoloration. Tiny spots of veneer loss on two left drawers and the edge beneath the top over the kneehole. White paint marks here and there. The chips of loss to ebony veneered shelf inside of the hidden compartment, a single chip to edge of the rosewood veneered wine shelf. Drawers function quite smoothly.
