Fine French Ebonized and Brass Inlaid Bureau Plat by Etienne Vieux


A fine French ebonized and brass inlaid bureau plat By Etienne Vieux Maitre, 1855-1880, circa 1860. A leather inset with a tooled edge above three drawers on rounded tapered fluted legs ending in castors. The central lock stamped “Vieux F. St. Antoine, 59”. Measures: Height 30 ½ in, width 62 in, depth 38 in. Etienne Vieux workshop was located at 59, Rue du Faubourg Saint Antoine, and his retail shop was located at 60 Rue du Faubourg Saint Antoine. He exhibited at the Universal exhibition in 1855, and as well in exhibition of 1861. Provenance: Private Collection, Paris France Property of a Lady Greenwich Ct. Desk53.
