Victorian Mahogany Kneehole Desk circa 1870, 19th Century

About the Item

A Victorian period, mahogany kneehole desk, circa 1870. Solid mahogany with oblong shaped top, with thumb moulded edge, with rear gallery upstand. Frieze with row of three drawers, further banks of three drawers, flanking a kneehole with inset cabinet. All drawers with pairs of original turned wooden handles, brass escutcheons, and locks. Sat on plinth base. Hidden underneath are four original castors. A lovely original desk, in good condition and ready for use. Dimensions: This desk measures approximately 76.5 cm (30") tall to the desk top, 81 cm (31.875") tall to the rear gallery, 130 cm (51") wide, 57.75 cm (22.75") deep. The kneehole clearance is 61.5 cm (24.25") tall by 44.5 cm (17.5") wide. Condition: Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This desk is in original and good condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally very sound and sturdy. Some odd marks and blemishes, signs of use and wear in keeping with its age. Original, handles, locks, escutcheons, and castors. Serviced and fully working. Cleaned and waxed polished. Ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
