About the Item
Wonderfully unique extra wide wooden dresser and chest of drawers made from the highest quality English Oak, by award winning designer and maker Goldfinch Brookes in his Manchester studio.
This piece is inspired by his love of the Austrian artist Hundertwasser, a man famous for taking unloved buildings and turning them into beautiful places to live through his use of natural materials.
Goldfinch Brookes has applied this idea to the simple rectangular silhouette of a chest of drawers and brought it alive with charcterful quarter sawn english Oak, and hand made Brown Oak handles.
Beautiful to look at, this piece is also supremely useful, offering a large amount of storage for all manner of items.
The drawers are constructed using a mixture of English Oak and Birch ply to create a very sturdy drawer. This is then fitted traditionally by hand using a much loved hand plane. However, soft close runners can of course be fitted if preferred.
This piece is finished in a hard wax oil, which offers a great deal of protection, whilst maintaining the natural feel of the wood and allows the piece to develop a natural patina over time.
As no two pieces of wood are the same (something to be celebrated) please expect slight variations in the grain patterns and tones. Do please message if you have an specific requests.
