About the Item

A European painted wood vitrine cabinet from the late 19th century, with richly carved décor, glass doors and lower shelf. Created on the Continent during the last decade of the 19th century, this elegant vitrine cabinet features a beveled cornice carved with delicate foliage on three sides. The façade showcases a glass door adorned with arching motifs converging to meet in the center through a carved medallion adorned with a sunflower. This door opens thanks to a gilded lock to inner shelves offering convenient display opportunities. The side posts are adorned with discreet campanulas gracefully falling down. The sides also present glass panels allowing the decorative objects to be seen from different angles. The vitrine is raised on four tapered legs connected to one another through an apron carved with foliage, and secure a lower shelf with serpentine front. It is painted in a soft color complimenting the lines beautifully. With its skillfully executed décor and petite proportions, this European painted vitrine cabinet circa 1890 will bring a touch of subtle elegance to any living room.
