Napoleon III Show Case Stamped Pecquereau In Paris

About the Item

Magnificent Showcase in violet wood marquetry with rich gilt bronze ornamentation, very finely chiseled with Louis XV-inspired motifs. Topped with a Campan Grand Mélange marble, molded in a double bec de corbin. Interior trim in original purple silk velvet in excellent condition. CIRCA 1874 Remarkable manufacturing quality and great elegance for this exceptional piece of furniture. Perfect condition - fully restored by our workshop - natural french polish finish. "Édouard Pecquereau, born on May 5, 1836 in Paris, worked with his father, Jean-Théodore Pécquereau, in 1862 at 5 rue du chemin Vert. His brother-in-law, Achille Gilbert, joined the family business in 1867 to become Pecquereau Père et Fils and Gilbert Gendre. He kept the business with the latter in 1874, becoming Pecquereau Théodore Fils and A. Gilbert, Ancienne Maison Pecquereau Père, then alone in 1878. He won a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of the same year. He sold his business around 1893 to Ed.
