About the Item

Mid Century Modern Organic Modernist vintage bar cart serving trolley from walnut and brass Vienna 1950s attributed to Oswald Haerdtl. An amazing vintage wheel supported bar cart or serving trolley in warm brown wooden color tone from walnut with rounded edges, brass and clear glasses. While the walnut frame and the brass handles points out the modernist appearance, two clear glass tiers gives the cart elegance and lightness. This bar cart could perfectly blend old and new, a mix from different periods and styles could enrich spaces and makes your environment unique. This investment piece will still look chic for the next coming decades. This bar cart could be paired beautifully to Contemporary as well as Mid Century Modern furnitures. Good and beautiful condition with minor signs of age. approx. measures: Length: 82 cm Depth: 44 cm Height: 63.5 cm Oswald Haerdtl ( 1899 - 1959 ) Architect and designer in Vienna He worked together with Josef Hoffmann in his atelier and projected as one of his first architecture works the pavillon for "Exposition internationale des Art Decoratifs et industriel modernes" in Paris as assistent by Max Fellerer. For the world exhibition in Bruxelles 1935 and in Paris 1937 he designed the Pavillons for Austria. Josef Frank as the leader from the Werkbundsiedlung invited Oswald Haerdtl to create a duplex. During this time he got to know Jean Lurcat, Andre Lurcat, Ferdinand Leger and Le Corbusier. During the 1950s Oswald Haerdtl created dependances for the company Arabia and influenced by doing this the Viennese coffee houses to Espresso bars with Italian elegance. Oswald Haerdtl was responsible for many designs from seatings, tables and chests, glass ware ( also for the company Lobmeyr ), porcelain and lightings.
