About the Item

This beautiful Goatskin (Parchment) topped table is modeled after a design by André Arbus, an important French designer of the 1930s and 40s to the late 1960s. The parchment covered top sits on two black lacquered X-Formed supports with bronze inlays that enhance the graceful lines of the base. The feet and tops of the supports are finished with cast bronze capitols and sabots (shoes). This large table can be used as either a desk or a dining table. The goat skins are laminated in a square parquet pattern. The top has been newly lacquered to provide a durable finish. Some of the skins have natural imperfections inherent to real parchment. The black lacquered base has also been recently polished.
