Sapele Desk No.1 by Kirby Furniture
About the Item
Desk No.1 is a highly detailed and functional writing desk featuring traditional joinery that has been lost in today’s fast built, throw away furniture. Although there have been multiple made, no two are the same and are unique in their own way. Each piece has its own unique grain pattern and may contain bow ties on cracks or patched knots. Every piece of lumber is picked intentionally to create the most beautiful piece of furniture. This piece is designed and built by Steven Kirby out of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Desk No.1 features two soft close drawers with green felted drawer bottoms, high profiled edge, and dovetail joinery. This piece is made of solid sapele, maple drawer boxes and finished with an all natural oil/wax combo to keep the natural look. Built to be placed against a wall or sit in the center of a room.
Measurements are 60” wide x 26.5” deep x 31.25” height
Lead time will be approximately 8-12 weeks. Please keep in mind, lumber takes years to grow and deserves to be worked with deliberately.

Kirby Furniture Limited was established by Steven Kirby in 2023 with the intention of designing and building functional, timeless, solid wood furniture. With an appreciation for Danish mid century design and traditional Japanese joinery; I strive to create high quality and functional furniture. All furniture is finished with an all natural wax & oil to bring out the natural beauty and color in the lumber. Designed and built in Cincinnati, Ohio, all furniture can be shipped across the United States and has the flexibility to be customized to fit the needs of the client. The Kirby Furniture line will continue to grow. New designs & older improved designs are always on the horizon. Upcoming furniture will include a sofa, a highboard, and custom wall unit.
Drawers can be placed on left or right side.
