18th Century Italian Walnut Neoclassical Farm Table / Kitchen Table
About the Item
Kitchen table hand-made in Italy in the late 1700s using walnut and pegged construction. The table is extremely well-built and solid, despite having very elegant proportions and lines. The legs are tapered and end in tulip feet; at some point in the past spacers were added to raise it so that is can be sit at and used as a dining table. The top is made of two long walnut boards mortised in a breadboard at each end. The apron is flat and decorated by a. Simple molding on the bottom. On the front, the table features two overlay drawers, both with beautiful and large hand-made dovetail joints.
Overall this is a beautiful table with gorgeous character and color. Some stains are present on the top, as well as scratches that are now embedded in the wood. This is a table that was used for many years and has lived a long life but is still in fantastic shape and ready to be used and abused for many more years to come.
