Found in the region of Normandy, France, this large artisan-made oak monastery table or dining table from the turn of the twentieth century features an impressive 3 inch thick top constructed of three planks of wood. The table rests on a sturdy trestle base constructed using mortise and tenon joinery and secured with oak wedges. From the floor to the bottom of the apron measures 26.5 inches. Measurement between the legs is 87 inches. With its impressive 118-inch length, this table seats twelve. c. 1900.

Substantial 19th century country French provincial farmhouse dining table hand-crafted from solid oak. The table features a monumental 2 inch thick top with breadboard ends. The top is supported by a trestle base having thick, chunky turned legs conjoined by H-shaped stretchers and ending with bun feet. Constructed with mostly wood peg joinery each end has a 10" inch overhang for diners and ample leg room measuring 23.5 inches from the floor to the apron. The rare large size is made in a monastery or refectory style. Very heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship.
