About the Item
An elegant and sculptural dining by Italian-Brazilian designer Giuseppe Scapinelli, crafted in richly grained Caviuna wood. The sensuously carved frame curves downward along two sides, tapering to bullet-shaped legs joined by a sculptural arched stretcher, while turned-out brass sabots complete the composition. The lustrous Caviuna grain underscores the table’s dynamic presence.
Giuseppe Scapinelli (Modena, Italy) studied architecture in Florence before relocating to São Paulo, where he founded Atelier Scapinelli. Active in ceramics, painting, and sculpture, he turned to furniture design in the early 1950s. His distinctive sculptural language made him one of the most expressive voices of Brazilian mid-century design, with works highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
