About the Item

This striking dining table by Massimo Vignelli for Italian producer Casigliani is made from marble columns and glass. The three marble columns each vary in diameter, their facades systematically chipped to create a rough yet tactile surface texture. This process, upon closer inspection, rather beautifully reveals the innate structure, pattern and colour of the stone used. The refined playfulness of form and intricate manufacturing technique makes this pieces a really interesting and rare example of Vignelli’s design ethos. In excellent vintage condition. Massimo Vignelli was an Italian designer who was active from the 1950s through the 2000s and was known for his influential work in graphic design, product design, and architecture. The use of glass and marble in furniture design was common during the mid-century period, as designers were exploring the possibilities of new materials and techniques. Vignelli's work was particularly notable for its emphasis on form and function, and his furniture designs often featured simple, geometric shapes and clean lines.
