A round metal and glass dining table of Italian manufacture from the 1950s.
In its simplicity, this small table expresses the potential of two materials that may seem opposites but can nonetheless interact with great aesthetic appeal. The hardness of the metal, its resistance to corrosion, engages with the delicate transparency of a crystal disc, which, resting on a black painted tripod iron structure, gives shape to a simple and functional table.
A strict piece of furniture, its personality owes itself to the quality of the Saint Gobain vintage glass, where the pleasant green hue, perfectly visible in transparency and on the ground edges, betrays the importance of the manufacturing that produced it.
More than half a century after its creation, this table still manages to communicate the perfect aesthetic balance of opposites. The weight of the metal converses with the lightness of the glass, and the somber seriousness of the black color of the base is tempered by the transparency of the surface made of such a noble material.
