A superb pair of handmade mid 20th century burlwood bedside cabinets. Fine quality, exquisitely decorated, featuring shaped top with original inset verde marble tops, partial gilt raised backsplash, front of case with foliate marquetry and string banded inlay, having a single drawer with dovetail joinery over double-door cabinet with matched gilt brass hardware, opening to reveal spacious mahogany lined interior, flanked by column corner posts with intricately detailed carved capitals, rising on tapered legs. Circa 1930s/1940s; Cantu, Northern Italy.
Fabulous Italian design, exceptionally executed, exuding a beautiful and luxurious presence that's both elegant, sophisticated and sure to make a statement.
Ideal proportions for use as end tables, side tables, lamp stands, or occasional tables.
