French Carpenter's Workbench in Elm, 1950s

About

A rustic vintage carpenter's workbench in elmwood complete with drawers and clamps, French, 1950. Beautifully worn elmwood carries the marks from decades of use, with dents and gouges; large steel clamps have nicks and a nice patina. Unusually for etablis, this piece has three generous drawers and for a delightful surprise, the bottom of each one has been hand-painted. Iron drop ring handles on the drawers. The large clamp at the front is marked with the maker's name, Jean 1950. The bottom, back splat and drawers are pine. Great console, island or functioning workspace. Excluding clamp, table depth is 20.5".
