About the Item
The pedestal with floral decoration in set panels on all 4 sides .Some in-Painting or stenciling to heighten sense of contrast.
This style pedestal was originally designed to hold clocks ,busts, urns or vases .Often finished ( as is this one )in the surround ( all sides ) to be seen floating in a room or even through a window .Most were topped with marble or stone to hold great weight while the simpler ones were finished in wood .
With typical wear issues , one corner at. Bottom corner ( floor level ) with repairs ( see photo ). Oxidation to brass trim.light grime . Marble top is reversible ,matte or polished sheen.The Marble is not a tight fit with some give but fits in an enclosed galleried space .
